UPDATE: Taylor ISD and Hutto ISD have each announced that their districts will be closed Thursday, Feb. 3.
There will be late starts for local school districts this week.
On Tuesday, Feb. 1, Granger ISD and Thrall ISD announced delays in school start times in response to winter weather approaching the area. Students and staff will encounter bitterly cold temperatures Thursday and Friday mornings, Feb. 3-4.
“Granger will be calling for two-hour delays on Thursday and Friday as of right now,” said Superintendent Jeni Neatherlin.
Thrall ISD will have a 2-hour delay for at least Thursday, which means buses will run two hours later and school will begin at 10 a.m.
Morning travel could be hazardous on elevated bridges, overpasses and untreated roads from freezing rain and sleet. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Williamson County Thursday from 3 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Taylor ISD said in a statement Tuesday morning that it was monitoring weather conditions and would announce a decision in the evening. For an update, visit this article at http://www.taylorpress.net.
