Wow there is a lot going on right now!
Not just with all of the spectacular events this weekend but with the growth in our community and the upcoming election and legislative session.
While it is delightful for me to keep you informed about local events, it is my job (and what I do so you don’t have to) to stay on top of what our ___________________________ that might have an impact on business.
That’s why I have been ___________________________ seminars recently.
Our advocacy committee learned a lot information from Dale Craymer with the Texas Taxpayers and Research Association last week.
Did you know that Texas is not a low tax state for business? And for manufacturing (Taylor’s largest private sector), it’s 60 percent higher than the national average?
If we are going to remain competitive, we must continue to have a process to discount taxes for manufacturers moving here. In the past, these have been referred to as 313
agreements and many people get confused as to _____________________________ also scheduled to go away Dec. 31 unless our legislature creates a new program.
If our newest large manufacturer did not have a discount agreement with Taylor ISD, all the extra tax money they would pay would go directly to the state. Instead, Taylor will get about $45 million over the next 20 years.
I know it’s a lot to grasp and I am working on it for you. Members pay me to advocate for them and our community and I love doing it.
That’s also the reason I encourage you to support the Taylor ISD bond. These students are our future workforce and our future as a whole. We can’t let them down.
