Granger Farmers Market
Fresh fruits, vegetables, jelly, canned and baked goods, eggs, artisan crafts and more will be at the Granger Main Street Farmers Market on the first and third Saturdays from April through October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of W. Davilla and Walton streets in Granger.
Third Thursday
Every third Thursday of the month, Taylor’s downtown businesses will be open past 5 until 8 p.m. and offer in-store specials, live music, door prizes and other activities. The event is designed to encourage residents to shop locally and become familiar with the shops in the downtown area.
Friends of Library
The Friends of the Taylor Public Library group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the library’s board room at 801 Vance St. in Taylor. For more information, call Maria Newman at 512-966-9445.
American Legion Post 39
American Legion Graham D Luhn Post 39 holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at its post building at 1310 Sycamore St. within Murphy Park in Taylor. SPJST Lodge 29 Taylor
Every Friday, SPJST Lodge 29 hosts live music and dancing and serves hamburgers at its hall at 5025 FM 619 in Taylor. Bands play from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m.
Admission is free.
SPJST is a fraternal organization. Residents can purchase life insurance, annuities or other items in order to become a member of the SPJST. The hall is open for business Wednesdays through Sundays from 3 to 10 p.m.
Senior Bingo
Enjoy Bingo with seniors every Wednesday at The Tripp Center, 1517 McLain St. near Mills Lane in Taylor, from 9 to 10:30 a.m.
People are encouraged to bring one or two prizes.
Halloween Spooktacular
Monday, Oct. 31 — The trickor- treat event and costume contest will be at Heritage Square, 400 N. Main St. in downtown Taylor, from 6 to 8 p.m. For more information, call the city’s Taylor Main Street department at 512352-3463.
Coding a stronger future open house Wednesday, Nov. 2 — Come learn about how the proposed update to the City’s zoning and development standards will impact your property. This is a come and go open house to review the draft place types zoning map and development standards for the city of Taylor. Come anytime between 1pm and 7pm to the Taylor Public Library, 801 Vance St.
Taylor Veteran’s 5K Beer Run
Thursday, Nov. 5 — The American Legion proudly presents the wildest 5K beer run in the history of Taylor at noon in Murphy Park. Enjoy zipping through Murphy Park and our beautiful hike and bike trails through town while sampling beer brewed right here in Taylor! Music, Food, and plenty of Taylor Made Beer. Bring your family and friends and help support the American Legion, American Legion Charities, and Veteran’s services in East Williamson County.
Music on Main
Thursday, Nov. 17 — The music series concludes with Austin funk band Honey Made at 7 p.m. at Heritage Square Park. The event is free and family friendly. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets, chairs, and picnics to enjoy the show in the park.
Christmas Fair
Saturday, Dec. 3 — A fair of extra vendors and food offerings will be alongside the Heritage Square Farmers Market, 400 N.
Main St. in downtown Taylor, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Christmas Parade
Saturday, Dec. 3 — A parade of lights and holiday spirit will be on Main Street starting at 7 p.m. and end in downtown Taylor.
Christmas Tree Lighting
Saturday, Dec. 3 — After a 7 p.m. Christmas parade concludes, there will be a city tree lighting ceremony at Heritage Square.
Christmas Homes Tour
Saturday, Dec. 3-4 —The Taylor Conservation and Heritage Society will showcase four of Taylor’s most historic structures, including Calla Lily Inn, Pecan Manor Bed and Breakfast, Taylor Mansion, West Mansion, and St. James Episcopal Church. Advance tickets are $15, and are on sale Nov. 1-30 at the Taylor Chamber of Commerce, 1519 N. Main St.; Vintage Affairs, 106 E.
Second Street; Taylor Soap Bar, 321 N. Main St.; and the Taylor Press, 211 W.Third Street. Brochures with details and a map will be supplied with ticket purchase.
Tickets will also be available the days of the tour. Tickets will be available from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. for $20. Children under 12 are free when accompanied by a ticket holder.
Christmas potluck
Saturday, Dec. 10 — The Davilla community, located northeast of Williamson County, will host the event at 6 p.m. at the Davilla Community Center at 20803 FM 487 in Davilla For more information, call Inky Tatum at 254-721-2922.
