HUTTO – The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) will install a traffic signal at the heavily traveled intersection of FM 1660 and Chandler Road in Hutto. The signal is part of the Austin District’s nonsite- specific signal installation program, which will install high priority signals across the 14 counties in the district.
Currently, the intersection has stop signs on FM 1660, and vehicles traveling on Chandler Road have free movement and do not stop.
Austin Traffic Signal Construction Co., Inc. is the contractor. The project is currently underway and is anticipated to be completed in early November. “As Williamson County grows, we have seen the traffic at this intersection, Chandler Road and FM 1660, increase exponentially,” said Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles. “So, a signal light at this intersection is going to mean more safety for the people in this area, more mobility for the people in this area and is something we need as the area grows. I cannot thank TxDOT enough for addressing this need for the people of Hutto and eastern Williamson County.”
“We appreciate the strong partnership with Williamson County. By working together on transportation planning, we can identify improvements that benefit both local and regional traffic, including the signal at FM 1660 and Chandler Road.
When complete, the signal will enhance safety and improve mobility at this intersection,” said TxDOT District Engineer Tucker Ferguson.
