“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
— Proverbs 17:22
I went to an event where Laura Beth, a motivational speaker and writer, read a poem she wrote. Since we all could benefit from slowing down, I want to share this with you.
Slow Down
We’ve got to get going We’re going to be late Look at the clock It’s half past eight Come on, hurry up, We really must rush-Hey wait a minute What’s all the fuss?
We must catch ourselves When we’re going too fast For if we don’t Our bodies won’t last Remember the story Of the tortoise and the hare? We must slow down
And become more aware This life we live It’s not a race To finish well We must learn to pace One day at a time Learning balance each day Lord help us slow down This I pray. Laura Beth, Cheerful Hearts We want your good news stories. Please tell us who walked the extra mile. Who put a smile in your face? Let us know and we print it here.
