Orta is running for election to the Williamson County Commissioners Court to represent Precinct 4. He is on the ballot in the general election Nov. 8.
1. Why are you running?
We need change in Commissioners Court Precinct 4. Residents deserve a public servant – a commissioner who will respond to his constituents. As County Commissioners, we work for the residents of Williamson County. I want to work for you and not the developers. If we genuinely want to see change in East Williamson County, we must be part of that change. That is why I am running for County Commissioner Place 4 in Williamson County. I have been serving East Williamson County for more than 30 years. The biggest decisions that impact our lives are not made in Washington, D.C., but in our local county offices. We need better stewards of our money and my experience working with the grassroots community will bring a voice to the voiceless and I will protect you in the office that has direct authority over your everyday lives in Williamson County. I want to work for you.
2. What sets you apart from the other candidate(s)?
I am a disabled Air Force veteran with a Master of Science degree in international relations. I have deep roots in this community.
My family has called East Williamson County home for over 100 years. I have 30+ years of community advocacy involvement in this county. My varied work and well-rounded community involvement have prepared me for this leadership position. I believe in coalition building, creating bridges and leading through consensus. I believe that I have honed the skills through my decades of community service to be more inclusive of all our residents. As Williamson continues to grow and prosper, we must continue to remember to include all the community in that growth and prosperity. I believe I can bridge the gap between the community we serve and those tasked with governing. I am qualified and ready to work for my constituents on day one.
3. Are there concerns in the county you feel have not been addressed?
County government is charged with core functions like building, maintaining and fixing our roads and bridges, and providing for our safety and public health. These are things we need a county commissioner to focus on. Our county is at a critical point where unprecedented population growth demands commonsense problem solving for infrastructure, public safety, and responsible economic development. There is perhaps no greater issue facing East Williamson County than managing the increasing pressures of growth and development in such a way to complement and enhance the character of Precinct 4. You deserve a County Commissioner who will show up and work for you. One of the chief complaints that I hear is that no one responds to questions or concerns. You deserve a true public servant – a commissioner who responds, who will advocate for you and will be your voice. I want to be that voice.
4. What do you believe is the biggest issue in this race?
There is perhaps no greater issue facing East Williamson County than managing the increasing pressures of growth and development in such a way to complement and enhance the character of Precinct 4. This unprecedented growth will impact and put a strain on our roads, public safety, and health infrastructure. We need more than the status quo. We need a fresh perspective that takes care of all Williamson County residents. Again, I want to work for you not the developers. I have no vested interests in real estate or land development. We need a commissioner who will protect the residents of East Williamson County not the developers. We need county commissioners who will look out for the common good and not private developers. I am ready to lead. I am ready to be your public servant. I am ready to work for all the people of Williamson County on day one.
5. Why should people vote for you?
As County Commissioners, we work for the residents of Williamson County.
Residents deserve a public servant – a commissioner who will respond to his constituents. As a disabled Air Force veteran, I have been serving East WilCo for over 30 years. You will be hard pressed to find anyone that will work harder for the good of our community. East Williamson County is a multi-diverse community. I have a long history of working to help the community cherish our commonalities and feel enlarged by our differences. I am a proven leader with a new direction for East Williamson County that will include all residents. I have a long history of working to make sure we protect communities that are marginalized and underserved. I will bring integrity, ethics, and equity back to county government. Again, I want to work for you.
