In August, Taylor Independent School District board members approved a bond package for $82,465,778. This, which is less than the $85.5 million initially proposed in July and, is mostly based on recommendations for the school’s community advisory committee. According to Superintendent Devin Padavil, around 13-15% of planned improvements from the bond would be dedicated to safety enhancements at all schools. Padavil said there is also inclusion of land acquisition that is necessary for the growth of Taylor ISD, as well as maintenance projects.

Other project priorities identified for the bond included major maintenance to T.H. Johnson Elementary School, playground secured fencing at Naomi Pasemann Elementary School, building additions and renovations at Taylor Middle School, and classrooms for visual arts as well as career and technical education at Taylor High School. Padavil said THS would see the most significant improvement.

The $82.47 million 2022 bond addresses safety, district growth, and aging facilities with no tax increase.

Taylor ISD’s total tax rate for the 2022 tax year, is $1.28 per $100 of assessed valuation ($0.94 M&O + $0.34 I&S) and represents the lowest district tax rate since 2008.

Residents 65 and older who have filed a homestead exemption will not be impacted by city and county taxes. The 2022 school bond will not impact anyone over or under 65.
