HUTTO – An estimated 10,000 people wound their way through vendor- lined streets to shop, eat, and enjoy a day of live music at the 37th Annual Hutto Old Tyme Days Saturday, Oct. 15.
Families turned out with babies in backpacks, kids in wagons and dogs on leash. The smell of sizzling burgers and sausages competed with the sounds from the stage, voices of vendors and happy chatter from children. Community performances, including dancing tots and teens, entertained passers-by, and the sun co-operated by making it a beautiful day to be outside in Central Texas.
Tim Jordan, president of the Hutto Chamber of Commerce, said the fair takes a team of more than 20 volunteers to bring together, in addition to the chamber staff. “We have 150-plus vendors and a full day of music. It brings a lot of people to town. We have some come from as far as Dallas but most of it’s local,” he said. “Mostly we’re just excited about the Hippos, and we’re here celebrating our community.”
