Taylor High School names Students of the Month

Taylor High School has named Ryan Valdez and Estrella De La Torre as Students of the Month for September. With a focus on the character traits of respect and responsibility, these two students were nominated by their teachers for the outstanding job they do every day. Speaking on the importance of respect, Valdez said, “Respect is important because I want to be treated the way I treat others. Even if I’m not (treated with respect), I’m still treating them with respect.”

Regarding the importance of responsibility, De La Torre said, “Responsibility is important to keep your grades up.”

As two Ducks that are flying high, both were asked for advice, or Words to Soar By, that could help others succeed.

“Do everything with full effort so you have no regrets,” offered Valdez.

“Focus and be responsible in all your work and in everything you do,” De La Torre suggested.

This month’s award was sponsored by RE/MAX Associates Group in Taylor. Ryan Schneider presented the recipients with a gift bag that included a Sonic gift card.

“It’s important to teach these kids respect and responsibility because they are the future leaders of our community, the community RE/MAX calls home and the one we live in and work in and serve in,” said Schneider. “We want the future citizens of our community to embody all the traits of a good citizen. We’re excited to sponsor these awards and to see these kids represent these traits so well.”
