Katy Nell Tidwell, age 93, of Granger, passed away peacefully at her home Saturday, Oct. 1, 2022. Katy was born May 4, 1929, in Granger, to Joe Moldenhour and Clara Bartlett Moldenhour, of Granger.
She attended Macedonia Community School, west of Granger, through eighth grade, then attended Granger High School, where she graduated in 1946. Much later in life, she decided to attend college, and in 1984, she earned an Associate Degree in Business from Temple Junior College, in Temple.
At her high school graduation ceremony in 1946, she was approached by the president of the First State Bank of Granger, who offered her a job at the bank. She accepted the job offer and continued to work at First State Bank for the next 50 years until she retired in 1996 as a bank vice president.
Katy married the love of her life, Powell Percy Tidwell, Jr., in 1948 in Granger, where the couple raised four children.
Katy joined the Granger First United Methodist Church in 1949, where she was very active in the church and served in various capacities for more than 60 years. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed preparing delicious family meals for every special occasion and holiday. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend to everyone. Katy was very proud of her family and enjoyed attending the various events and activities of her children and grandchildren.
Katy was preceded in death by her parents, Joe Moldenhour Sr. and Clara Bartlett Moldenhour; husband, Powell Percy Tidwell Jr.; daughter, Tina Tidwell Vento (Bruce); and brothers, Joe B. Moldenhour, Don Moldenhour and Foy Moldenhour.
Survivors include her sons, Tommy Tidwell (Tammy) of Taylor, Terry Tidwell of Granger, and Timmy Tidwell (Cynthia) of Granger; grandchildren, Tiffany Tidwell (Steve) of San Francisco, California, Tessa Tidwell (Lou) of Denver, Colorado, Anthony Vento (Lex) of Austin, and Travis Tidwell (Amber) of Granger; sisters-in-law, Violet Moldenhour and Georgie Moldenhour; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include Travis Tidwell, Anthony Vento, Bruce Vento, Jay Moldenhour, Joe Ray Moldenhour and Kenneth Mikulencak Services were held Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to friends and neighbors for all the prayers and support they have provided. They also want to thank the staff of Compassus Hospice of Round Rock for the excellent care of Katy for the past two months.
