Joyce LaVerne Goetz Remmert was born Jan. 8, 1938, in Taylor, to Edwin and Lena Goetz. She passed away Sunday, Sept. 25, 2022, surrounded by her family. Joyce was raised on a farm near Coupland, and was baptized and confirmed at St.

Peters United Church of Christ in Coupland.

Joyce attended Coupland and Elgin schools. In 1956, she graduated from Elgin High School.

On June 20, 1959, Joyce married the love of her life, Ralph Remmert. They were married at St. Peter’s United Church of Christ and later in life settled down in Round Rock.

Joyce was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church in Round Rock and faithfully attended there for over 40 years. She was also a member of Hermann Sons. Family was important to Joyce. She spent most of her life as a loving wife, mother and granny. She was a stayat- home mom raising her two children, Randy and Vicki. Joyce also loved spending time with her two grandsons, Ryan and Devin, whether it be attending their baseball games, taking them fishing or teaching them how to make her famous turkey and dressing.

Joyce loved spending time in the kitchen baking, especially delicious pies of all flavors. She will be remembered for her gift of baking pies and other desserts, which was a talent that was passed down from her mother. She made each member of the family their favorite pie at every birthday. Her favorite was cherry. Joyce enjoyed cattle ranching with her husband, Ralph.

She was in charge of naming each baby calf and keeping the books. Joyce relaxed by spending time sitting on the back porch watching the cows graze in the pasture and keeping an eye on expecting mama cows.

Joyce enjoyed sewing, crocheting afghans, collecting anything with red birds and collecting marbles.

She was also a flower gardener with a very green thumb. She could grow the most beautiful geraniums and roses which were admired by everyone who came to visit.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Lena Mager Goetz; brother, Milton Goetz; and sister, Lillian Moehnke.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Ralph Remmert; son, Randal Ray Remmert and wife, Peggy, of Taylor; daughter, Vicki Lynn Wall and husband, Perry, of Georgetown; two grandsons, Ryan Ray Remmert and wife, Faith and their children Ella and Johnny of Round Rock, and Devin Wayne Remmert of Taylor. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to the staff at Franklin Park Memory Care in Round Rock and The Springs Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Cedar Park for taking such good care of her over the past several months.

Visitation was held Saturday, Oct. 1, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Palm Valley Lutheran Church in Round Rock, followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. Burial followed in the Palm Valley Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org), Arthritis Foundation (arthritis. org), or memorials to Grace Lutheran Church in Round Rock.
