GRANGER – Friday afternoon, Granger Independent School District went into lockdown after a threat made against the school district.
According to an email sent to parents, the threat was received Friday morning against a school district presumed to be Granger.
“These were communicated from a student to their teacher to our admin, which originated from social media,” the email said. “Our student recognized this and reported this to the appropriate personnel.”
The district began investigating immediately, although the person making the threat is unkown.
“We are in contact with local and county law enforcement that will assist us in the identity of the person making the threats and if they are credible,” the district’s email said. “This will help us determine our safest course of action. While we hope the threats are empty threats, we must take any threat seriously to ensure the safety of our students and staff.”
Granger ISD has established a safety plan and lockdown procedures that contribute to maintain a safe learning environment for students.
More information will be available when released.
