Ducks and Panthers took the field together Friday to celebrate homecoming.
To keep with tradition, a new king and queen were crowned at Taylor Independent School District Sept. 23 at halftime of the varsity football game. Jarvis Anderson and Annalise Frias were crowned king and queen.
Frias is a national honor student, a regional champion and a three-time state qualifier in powerlifting. She is also a member of the Taylor Duck band and is the woodwind captain. After high school, she plans to attend the University of Texas in Austin and major in business management, as well as try out for powerlifting and the UT marching band.
Anderson is a varsity football player, and was named firstteam all-district and team captain. He is also on the varsity track team and a state qualifier. Anderson is a Deaflympics athlete and currently holds a world record in the 400 hurdles and is ranked No.
1 in the US in the triple jump. He is active in his church, Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. After high school, he plans to play football and run track on the collegiate level, and hopes to play professional football and be a track and field Olympian.
The homecoming prince and princess were Miguel Ruiz and Casey Weison.
O.L. Price recognition In addition to the homecoming festivities, Taylor ISD recognized the O.L. Price 1962 state championship football team.
Members of the team, along with former O.L Price students, were in attendance for a presentation. Coach Edward “Bud” Elder’s children also attended to accept a plaque.
Leslie and Don Hill worked with Taylor Superintendent Devin Padavil and Taylor High School Principal Matt Wamble to get the state championship trophy placed in the trophy case at the high school.
