Margaret Dell Carmack Moore

On Sept. 12, 2022, at about 10:45 p.m., a flurry of angels led by our Lord filled the room of Margaret Dell Carmack Moore to the brim. They took our precious mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend with them as they departed for Heaven where she will reside forever with our precious Lord. She passed away peacefully in her sleep for which we are thankful. She was 99 years old, adventuresome, loved to travel and lived life to the fullest. Born April 12, 1923, in Weleetka, Oklahoma, she spent most of her life in Texas.

As the matriarch of the family, she kept us in line and on our toes. She loved her family to the fullest and it was that love that kept her going and presently keeps us going. She was fun, created laughter with her quick wit, and never had an unkind word about anyone.

She was/is loved by many. Her eight grandkids and 11 great grandkids were important to her, and she loved their visits. They loved Granny’s “made from scratch” pancakes.

She loved to travel and was smart. She thrived on learning new things. All her life she had a passion to be a nurse, but she had to put aside any career aspirations while she cared for four kids and a loving husband. When she was 50 years old and all her children had left the nest, she decided to make good on her dream. She took the GED and then went to nursing school at John’s Community Hospital Nursing School in Taylor.

She loved nursing and we were frequently told what a wonderful and caring nurse she was. She worked for 10 years, then she and our dad retired and set out for some adventure. They spent the next several years traveling the entire USA. They traveled to every state in the United States and to Canada. She thrived on it.

After they had satisfied their traveling wishes, they retired in Taylor, and spent their time enjoying family.

She was preceded in death by her adoring husband, Adrian Moore, Sr.; mother, Marm Bell Carmack; father, Dolph Carmack; four brothers, Ray Waren, Beverly Carmack, Kenneth Carmack and Bud Carmack; and her precious, loving daughter, Linda Moore Kauitzsch (Carroll).

She is survived by three children, Terry Moore (Col USAF Ret) and Bill Moore Sr., (Twanni) who live in Georgetown; and Adrian Moore Jr. (Donna) who lives in Denton. Also important in her life were Georgie, Patt and Scott.

There is plenty of sadness to go around right now, but happiness looms large in our hearts because we know we had the best mom in the world who put an imprint of love on many hearts.

A funeral service was held for this special lady Saturday, Sept. 24, at 4 p.m. at Ramsey Funeral Home in Georgetown.
