New striping for parking, signage and landscaping in the downtown will be on the agenda at the next Taylor City Council meeting this Thursday.

At the Sept. 22 regular meeting, council will consider bid proposals authorizing the award for four different downtown projects, including a $226,000 contract to Lone Star Sitework, LLC. to build a bulb out on the northwest corner of second and main streets and swap a portion of the pedestrian pavers on Second Street for a landscaped area, including irrigation and one tree.

In addition, council will consider approving a bid for $146,000 from Total Highway Maintenance, LLC. to redo striping for downtown parking, $151,000 from Fazzone Construction Co. for new signage and $89,000 to create a downtown streetscape.

In other business, council will:

• consider rezoning approximately 75 acres near the airport along U.S. 79 from rural agricultural to light industrial to build an employment center.

• consider awarding a construction contract to expand the Taylor Animal Shelter.

• Receive an update on the murals at Potter’s Alley from the Public Arts Advisory Board

• Consider renewing a publicity and tourism agreement and Hotel Occupancy Tax agreement with the Greater Taylor Chamber of Commerce

• hear a presentation from Taylor Independent School District Superintendent Devin Padavil, about the $82 million bond election in November.

• hear a presentation from the Capital Area Rural Transportation System (CARTS) regarding services in Taylor.
