When communities are growing, the first thing they need is builders. So, in part, the jobs of the future are the jobs of the past.

“That, in a nutshell is why the Taylor Chamber hosts its annual Trades Day Career Fair,” Chamber President Tia Rae Stone said. “It’s to get students across the area to consider a job in a trade or technical field.”

Trade Day Career Fair is set for Wednesday, March 2, at the Williamson County Expo Center.

School districts and companies from across the area are invited to attend.

The last Trades Day held in 2020, saw 80 students come to Taylor to learn that jobs in everything from plumbing and advanced manufacturing (the types of workers Samsung will need) to law enforcement and medical technology, offer jobs with excellent earning potential and benefits.

A September 2021 report from Angi, a marketplace for home services, suggests people in skilled trades are happy with their work noting that 83% of tradespeople it surveyed said they were at least somewhat satisfied.

“We are excited to get back to this important work after a pandemic year off,” Stone said. The Chamber is registering business and school/student groups now. To learn more, call 512-352-6364 or email
