It was delightful to celebrate our community with you at the Chamber and Community Awards Banquet on Jan. 18.
It is always a special evening for me as we look back on the previous year and sow the seeds for the next.
With things hopping in Taylor, it is appropriate that Chamber Board Chair, and co-owner of Noren Thermal Solutions, Cheryl Webster choose “Building on a firm foundation” as the theme for 2022.
It seems like every leadership group across the city, whether it be the City, itself, the school district or the Chamber, spent last year looking forward with the expectation of growth. So many communities
So many communities are hit with growth without any time to prepare. But not Taylor, our community leadership was expecting it even before Samsung announced its plans.
At the Chamber, we are working to implement a new community leadership group to learn and then work with our Ambassadors to keep the success of local businesses at the heart of everything we do. We will be embarking on a capital campaign to transform our building into a facility we can all be proud of.
One that welcomes visitors and new comers in a way that tells stories of our community and puts Taylor in the best, possible light.
And, one of the things I am most excited about in the coming year, the Chamber is building its own foundation -- not just the physical kind but the financial kind as well.
The Greater Taylor Foundation will be a 501(c)3 dedicated to the advancement of education especially in areas of entrepreneurship, workforce and business development.
