The Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society is looking for horse adopters, vendors, sponsors and donations for their 15th annual Bluebonnet Horse Expo, which will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 8 at the Williamson County Expo Center, 5350 Bill Picket Trail in Taylor.

“After holding a virtual Expo in 2020 and a scaled back Expo in 2021, both thanks to COVID, we’re so excited to be holding our biggest Expo yet,” said Dr. Jennifer Williams, the Executive Director of Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society and the Expo’s Coordinator. “The Expo is our biggest fundraiser, horse adoption event, and educational event of the year. The amount of money we raise during the Expo and number of horses we place with adopters determine how many horses we can help next year. And thanks to the drought and unusually high prices of hay and grain, there are going to be a lot of horses who need us.”

The Expo will feature clinics and demonstrations by equine professionals, a Bluebonnet rescue horse training challenge competition, a stick horse show, a used equipment sale, a saddle auction and a vendor area.

In addition, the society will be hosting in-person adoptions of their rescue horses from pre-approved applicants.

“The Expo and Challenge is coming up soon, and we’re going to have a lot of great horses available for adoption,” said organizers on their Facebook page. “We’re so excited to help make great matches and help people find their next horse. For horses in the Training Challenge, our Adoption Team [began] keeping a list of who is interested in which horse on Sept. 1, 2022 at 9 a.m.”

“If you are interested in one of the Challenge horses, please get your adoption application in ASAP,” officials added. “If you aren’t sure whether or not you are approved to adopt or your membership is current, please email adoptioncounselor@bluebonnetequine. org to find out. Only approved adopters can get on the list for a horse, so you don’t want to miss this step!”

In addition, the society is seeking donations of tack, which is any equipment used to handle, ride or care for domesticated horses. Organizers are also seeking donations of horse, farm, and westernthemed home décor, jewelry or art. Tickets for the expo are $10 per person and are available at the door. Children 10 and under are free. Proceeds will be used to benefit the horses of the Bluebonnet Equine Humane Society.
