David Lee Kruse, 66 of Hutto, passed away Sept. 1, 2022, peacefully on his ranch, surrounded by family.

David was born Nov. 15, 1955, in Taylor, to Frank Edward and Bessie Lee Adams Kruse and grew up with his brother and sister.

Early on at Hutto High School, David met the love of his life, Sherryl Diane Finn Kruse and spent 45 wonderful years of marriage together. But if you asked David, he would tell you “I’ve been married my whole life!”

They had two sons, Adam and Brandon. David devoted his life to his family and friends. David coached both of his sons’ little league baseball teams for many years.

He enjoyed spending time on his family ranch at Norman’s Crossing. If he could be in the pasture on his tractor or gator, he was. His favorite times were driving the gator around in the pasture with his family.

David recently retired from the University of Texas, after almost 30 years. During his time at UT, he made many close friends. He was very passionate about his work and gave everything he had to make sure that no project was left undone and completed to the very best satisfaction.

David was a true family man. He always made sure that his family had what they needed and was always there to help where he could. He was very firm, but fare. David was a very loyal husband, father and brother. He was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor.

Though our time with David was cut short, he will always be remembered and cherished through our time and memories with him.

David was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Keri Gavit.

David is survived by his wife, Sherryl; son, Adam (Krista) Kruse and their children Skylar, Kip and Brooks; son, Brandon (Jennifer) Kruse and their children Harrison, Conrad and Charlotte; brother, Michael Kruse; Nieces Kamara and Kristina Gavit; nephews, Kevin and Kyle Gavit; aunt, Marilyn (Edward) Morgan; and cousins, Laura Mchugh and Steven Morgan A visitation was held Tuesday, Sept. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos Parker Blvd. in Taylor. A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Luthern Church, 3503 N. Main Street in Taylor. Burial will follow at Taylor City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor.
