The weather may be cooling off soon, but the season for outdoor evening concerts is heating up.

Music on Main will launch its fall season with the nationally recognized Money Chicha at 7 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 15 at Heritage Square. “It’s got a Latin flair,” said Janetta McCoy, the vice chair of the arts board, and an organizer for the event series. “It’s very upbeat. It will be really, really fun.”

According to National Public Radio, Money Chicha is “an Austin, Texas based group featuring members of the Grammyaward winning Latin orchestra Grupo Fantasma, and its offshoot fund outfit Brownout, which performs a fuzzed-out, reverbdrenched and percussionheavy style of music inspired by the sounds of Peru and Colombia in the 60s and 70s.” At the event, there will be food trucks, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own chairs and picnic blankets. Vendors will include Bogle Family Vineyards, Hola Aloha, The Texas Beer Company and more.

“It’s turning into a nice evening of picnics and music, and it’s family and children and puppy dogs,” McCoy said. “The whole intention is that it be a community event. People worry about what it means to grow, and lots of folks are worried about what’s happening with Samsung; well, this kind of event will keep Taylor focused on the community.”’
