The Taylor High School Ex-Students Association is busy getting ready to welcome the flock back home for homecoming 2022.
After a two-year absence due to COVID, all Duck grads are invited to a long list of festivities that will occur over homecoming weekend with a full day of activities on Friday, Sept. 23.
The celebration begins at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, with a community pep rally at Heritage Square. School groups will parade in from fifth street and lead the community in songs and cheers.
At 9 a.m. Friday, Sept.
23, doors to the KC Hall will open for visiting and refreshments. A chopped beef sandwich lunch will be served at 11:15 for $10 per plate, with tickets available at the door.
This year’s honor classes include those missed during the pandemic as well as current honorees.
Those are the classes ending in 0 and 5, 1 and 6, and 2 and 7.
The program will begin at 12:15 p.m. and includes a variety of entertainment and sharing of memories from the good old days. Highlights include the Duck Hall of Fame induction ceremony, the Taylor High School mascot reunion, former cheerleaders leading a traditional cheer and a tribute to “Mama Duck” Naomi Pasemann.
During the week, campuses in Taylor Independent School District will celebrate with dress-up days and the selection of the homecoming court at Taylor High School. The football game that evening starts at 7:30 p.m. when the Ducks take on the Jarrell Cougars. A special highlight of the evening will be a recognition of the O. L. Price Panther football team that won the state championship in 1962.
For individual class celebrations and gatherings, graduates should contact the representative for their class for more information.
