Business Expo this weekend

A job fair and businesses will be on display this weekend in Taylor. Hundreds of dollars of gifts and prizes will be given out at the East WilCo Business Expo and Job Fair will return to the Williamson County Expo Center from 10 a.m.

A job fair and businesses will be on display this weekend in Taylor.

Hundreds of dollars of gifts and prizes will be given out at the East WilCo Business Expo and Job Fair will return to the Williamson County Expo Center from 10 a.m. t 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11.

“We already know that we will be giving away a $100 gift card from H-E-B, a $50 gift card from Wal-Mart, some Ancira Salsa and an at-home weather station,” Expo Chair Cynthia Martinez said. “We will be drawing names every half hour at the Expo and coming early helps your chance to win.”

The prizes, music, food, dental exams and an extended job fair make the Expo a great place to spend a Saturday morning with the family. Admission is free and open to the public at the WilCo Expo Center, 5350 Bill Pickett Trail. Those attending are encouraged to bring a donation for Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry.

“There will also be business there who are desperate for employees,” Chamber President Tia Rae Stone said. “If you have ever even thought about working locally or changing jobs or careers, you need come down and meet people. If you can’t get away, you can learn more about joining in the virtual job fair at the Chamber’s website, www.taylorchamber. org.”

Stars and Science Austin will have a mobile planetarium on-site where they will have shows teaching children about the stars and constellations thanks to a sponsorship from the Taylor American Legion. Those shows will begin half hour beginning at 10:15 with a short break for lunch and the final show beginning at 1:30 p.m.

The event is sponsored at the platinum level by S and D Plumbing and Taylor Press; at the gold level by Cargill, the City of Taylor, Sirloin Stockade, Taylor Housing Authority, Valero and Taylor ISD; and at the silver level by A Veteran Storage, American Legion Post 39, Stars and Science Austin, City National Bank of Taylor, Durcon, Hart Components, Holiday Inn Express and Suites, and Lower Brush Creek WCID.
