Virgie Nell Ruthven Simcik, 84, of Taylor went to be with her Heavenly Father Thursday, Sept. 1, 2022, with her family by her side.

Virgie was born Nov. 29, 1937, in Lee County to Haskell and Birdie Ruthven.

She grew up with two loving siblings, Doug Ruthven (Jan) and Audrey Zezulka.

She married the love of her life Rubin Eugene Simcik June 9, 1956. From this marriage came two daughters, Charlotte Niemtschk (Larry) of Thorndale, and Vicki Hall (Dudley) of Taylor.

Virgie was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories. Virgie loved her plants and being outside with her flowers. She could look at a flower, and it would grow.

Her departure reminds us that angels are watching over us. Last week Virgie rejoined her heavenly family and friends and gained her wings.

Virgie was preceded in death by her husband, Rubin; grandson, Kelly Gene Niemtsck; and brother-in-law Eugene Zezulka. Virgie is survived by her daughters and three grandchildren, Haley Slaughter (Jace) of Waco, Cale Hall (wife Raelyn) of Granger, and Reese Hall (Matt Lopez) of Taylor. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, Jaideyn, Traycen and Teagen Slaughter, Caylen and Maysen Hall, and Charli and Jax Lopez. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, Sept. 7, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home. A celebration of life ceremony will be held Sept. 8, at 10 a.m. at Providence Funeral Home. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.
