Public Servants bid farewell to colleague

On Saturday, fire trucks and other service vehicles rode through town as they said goodbye to retired Taylor firefighter Robert Whitmore. Whitmore, 59, passed away Tuesday, Aug.

On Saturday, fire trucks and other service vehicles rode through town as they said goodbye to retired Taylor firefighter Robert Whitmore.

Whitmore, 59, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 16 at his home. He was born Nov.

6, 1962, in Gatesville to Earl and Dixie Whisenant.

Whitmore was a 1981 graduate of Rockdale high School and also attended TSTC, ACC Fire Academy and Temple College.

He was a retired firefighter/ EMT for Taylor and Hutto, where he served the cities for 23 years. After his retirement he worked as a security guard for Alcoa for three years, and for Texas Propane for four years.

He was a member of the Milano Volunteer Fire Department and a former member of the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department.
