“Talk to yourself like you would to someone you love.” — Brené Brown

I had the pleasure to meet with Angelina Shelton. She told me that she left a kind and uplifting voicemail for her mother this morning, and this inspired her to leave a message for herself. Shelton let me listen to the recording she made for herself. It was so powerful that I asked her to share this with all of us. Here is what she

shared: “Do you talk to yourself? If so, what are you telling him/her? Are you using words to uplift, encourage, empower?

Or are they reinforcing thoughts of doubt, low self-worth, disappointment?

I am guilty of doing more of the latter than the former. However, today something told me to do something different. I not only spoke words of encouragement to myself . . . I recorded them! Now I have my own recorded words of affirmation.”

Angelina Shelton We are each our own worst critic. Most of us talk to ourselves in a way we would never speak to someone else. Let’s start speaking in a kind, supportive and uplifting way to ourselves and see what happens.

Always remember there is goodness everywhere and kindness matters.
