It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend Robin Gail Schobey.
Robin was born March 23, 1980, and passed away Aug. 12, 2022.
In her 42 years, Robin touched the lives of many — human and non-human alike.
Ever since she was a little girl, she always had an intense love for animals, specifically horses and dogs. Her natural, God-given ability to connect with and understand animals on such a deep level was truly a gift to this world. Throughout her life she always found a way to do the thing that she loved, working with and being around horses and dogs. It was her callingwhat she was put on this earth to do.
In March of 2021, she started her own grooming business from the ground up – Schooby Doo Mobile Dog Grooming. In that year she built a successful business with many clients and dogs that she loved, and who loved her in return. It was that unconditional love for her two and four legged clients that drew people to her and her business — and she did what she loved until her last day.
Anyone who knew Robin knew that she was an exceptionally open-hearted and accepting person. There was a calmness about her that drew people in — so much so that even complete strangers felt comfortable opening up to her, and she would always listen, because she knew just how much an open mind and open ears could mean to someone.
She loved fiercely. She loved her family, her friends, and she loved her children more than anything — and they loved her.
Robin was preceded in death by her grandparents, Sylvia Garrett, William and Lillian Schobey; and her aunt, Connie Covington.
She is survived by her children, Shelby Rose and Sean Willingham; her parents, Gail and William Schobey; her brothers, David Rose, Jason Rose and William “Billy” Schobey; her nieces and nephew, Katie and Taylor Schobey and Zachary Mallard; her dogs, Goldie and Blue; and her horse, Shine.
She will be sorely missed by all, but we know that we will be with her again someday in Heaven.
Robin’s memorial service was held Saturday, Aug. 20, at 6 p.m. at Elgin Funeral Home, 712 N Avenue C in Elgin.
