Susie Helen Florine Arldt Roeglin Tiemann, age 93, passed away July 29, 2022 in Taylor. She was born July 17, 1929, in Walburg.

Susie was the oldest of six children of Alvin Gerhard Arldt and Frieda Hanusch Arldt.

She was baptized July 28, 1929, at Zion Lutheran Church, Walburg, and was confirmed at the same church April 18, 1943. She was wed to

She was wed to Gilbert Henry Roeglin Nov. 2, 1952, by W.F. Bielfeldt at Zion Lutheran, Walburg. From this union was born their two children Linda and Leonard.

Gilbert passed away March 11, 1999. Nine years after Gilbert passed away, Susie became friends with Vernon Tiemann and they married July 4, 2010. Vernon passed away April 28, 2011.

Susie attended parochial school at Zion Lutheran until the sixth grade, when her dad needed her help on the farm. When she turned 16, she went to work for Scottish Rite Dormitory in Austin. During her time working there she met Gilbert. After their marriage, she became a true farmwife. After Linda and Leonard started school, she began working at Pflugerville ISD cafeteria. In later years, she worked at several sewing factories in the Taylor area including Taylor Bedding Mfg. where she worked for 20 years.

Susie always put her Lord first in her life and taught Sunday school at Trinity for a few years. She was a long-standing member of the Altar Guild which brought her much enjoyment.

Susie was an excellent cook and made the best lemon, coconut and chocolate meringue pies. Her coffee cakes and donuts were also very tasty. Even though she was a woman, she made some of the best tasting barbecue. If she wasn’t busy outside working in her garden and flowerbeds, she was in the kitchen cooking up something good and homemade from scratch. She always wanted her family over for Sunday lunch, but don’t even think about doing dishes-that was her dutyshe said it relaxed her.

Susie loved her two grandsons and doted on them. Lance was there every day for lunch and Jared spent several nights a week there-both keeping her company and doing odd jobs for her as needed. There will never be another Ma. Susie was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Frieda (Hanusch) Arldt; her brother, Earl Arldt; and her sisters, Gracie Winkler and Mamie Mersiovsky.

Susie is survived by children, Linda (Darvin) Widmer and Leonard (Glenda) Roeglin; grandsons, Lance and Jared Widmer; sisters Wyone Hubbard (Fred) and Annie Meinardus (Ronny); sister-in-law, Frances Arldt; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Condra Funeral Home in Taylor. Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Taylor. Burial followed at Taylor City Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers were Lance Widmer, Jared Widmer, Jeff Meinardus, Scott Meinardus, Daryl Meinardus and Roy Arldt.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Lutheran Hour, Trinity Lutheran Altar Guild or Building Fund.
