Mabel Frances Walther, of Buda, beloved wife and dear mother passed away Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022. Mae was born in 1932.
Mae was born into a large family with her twin, Melvin Franklin (Dick), raised on a Texas farm, graduated high school and nursing school, and worked as a nurse until her marriage.
She met her husband, Wilbert Henry (Wil) at a wedding in which they were bridesmaid and best man, when she was 16. They married four years later and enjoyed 69 joyous years together.
She was an industrious homemaker and maintained a comfortable, nurturing abode during all of those years.
Offered a maid in later years, she refused. She liked to do her own housework her entire life. An enthusiastic correspondent, she regularly exchanged letters with friends and family all over the USA. Every holiday and birthday one could expect a loving message from Mae.
For several decades, with the help of her husband, Wil, she maintained beds of dozens of rose bushes, including experimental varieties from a national nursery. Mae always loved roses.
She was also an ardent quilt maker and an excellent cook and taught youngsters at Sunday school for 25 years.
Most importantly, she was loving and kind, gentle and considerate, and always a good listener.
Mae is survived by her husband, Wil, three children, five grandchildren, one greatgrandchild, and her fraternal twin Dick.
A visitation for Mae will be held Monday, Aug. 8, at 9 a.m. A funeral service will start at 10 a.m. with a graveside following at Cook-Walden/Forest Oaks Funeral Home.
