Winter has come, although its presence this week will continue to only be felt rather than seen.

On Jan. 1, Taylor recorded its first freezing temperatures of the winter season, according to the Taylor Texas Weather Network. At least one more night of freezing temperatures is expected this week.

A cold front brought snow and other winter weather to northwest Texas this past weekend. No snow or other inclement weather made its way to central Texas nor is in the seven-day forecast, but Taylor temperatures dipped to as low as 21.9 degrees at 7:38 a.m. Dec. 2. Lows Dec. 3 and 4 were 22 and 32 degrees, respectively, with highs in the 50s.

Since then, temperatures have warmed up and are expected to reach 69 degrees Wednesday, Jan. 5. However, Thursday’s forecast, Jan. 6, has a high of 50 degrees and a low of 27 degrees.

“Another front arrives Wednesday afternoon and then another stronger cold front arrives Thursday with more chilly air and blustery conditions,” said the National Weather Service (NWS) Austin/San Antonio Office. “Slight chances of rain enter the forecast across far eastern portions of the area Saturday morning.”

Friday, Jan. 7, should reach 57 degrees during the day before coming down to 46 degrees at night. Saturday, Jan. 8, could have a high in the 70s and lows in the mid 50s.

“The next cold front could arrive on Sunday,” said the NWS Austin/San Antonio Office.
