Bill Walton, 90, of Taylor, was welcomed home by our Lord Saturday, July 23, 2022. He was surrounded by his family at Baylor Scott & White Hospital in Taylor.

Bill was born in Guthrie, Kentucky, March 10, 1932, and moved to Taylor in 1973. He was the son of the late Hubert W. and Minnie Walton of Guthrie, Kentucky. Bill was one of 13 children. Bill was a graduate of Guthrie High School in 1951, and later attended St. Edwards University. Bill was stationed at Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, December 1951, where he met Frances Romero, who was a nursing student at Seton School of Nursing. They married April 16, 1953.

Bill was later transferred to Fairford, England, where he served in the Air Force during the Korean War.

Bill and Frances later moved to Hopkinsville, Kentucky, where Bill worked for many years as a Manager at Montgomery Ward. Bill and Frances, along with their 12 children, moved back to Texas in 1973. Frances continued her nursing career at John’s Community Hospital (currently Baylor Scott & White Hospital) for 22 years. Bill worked as a Manager for Montgomery Ward in Taylor, then worked for a short time at U-Wag-Um Convenience Store.

Bill worked at one of the first Wal-Mart stores to open in Texas. He worked in various roles there and retired from Wal-Mart in Taylor after 17 years. He was well known for providing excellent service and was respected by many for his kind and caring heart.

Bill was preceded in death by sons-in-law, Craig Johnson and Michael McCoy.

He is survived by one sister, Betty Lou O’Shay of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Bill is survived by seven daughters, Mary Ancira and husband Jesse, Kathy Rojas and husband Carlos all of Taylor, Anna Matoska and husband Rodney of Thrall, Gloria Romero-Hutchinson and David of Sarasota, Florida, Susie Arrendell and husband Kent of Frisco, Texas, Julie Walton and Scott of Leander, and Jackie McCoy and John of Granger. He is also survived by five sons, Bobby Walton, Joe Walton and wife Cathy, John Walton and wife Taffenie, all of Taylor, David Walton and the late Esther Walton, of Pflugerville, and James Walton and wife Mary Ann of Spring.

Bill is survived by 31 grandchildren, Lance, Chad, Fabian, R.J., Amy, Jamie, Kaley, Rebekah, J.T., Olivia, Michael, Eric, Ryan, Laci, Leah, Alexandria, Jesse III, Jonah (deceased), Lindsey, Kelsey, Christopher, Rowdy, Kole, Lyndsi, Isaiah, Olivia, John Carlos, Sarah Jenni, Kasey, and Kyle.

Bill is survived by 33 great grandchildren, Kirstyn, Jaylyn, Ethan, Carlie, Ainsley, Ambrose, Roman, Anika, Gianna, Gideon, Aly, Ty, Tylor, Isabelle, Oliver, Marshall, Swayze, Cyrus, Reagan, Blake, Gage, Reese, Raven, Jayda, Jett, Myah, Pat, Nadia, David, Lyla, Anley, Corbin and Stella.

The Walton family would like to thank Dr. Nathan Cohen and Baylor Scott & White Clinic staff for their kind and compassionate care down through the years. The family would also like to thank Dr. Chandana Chakka and the Baylor Scott & White Hospital nursing staff who were responsive to their dad’s needs and were extremely supportive to the entire family. Thank you also to Susie Arrendell, who is a Registered Nurse, for her loving care during their Dad’s hospitalization.

Visitation is to be held Monday, Aug. 1, from 6 to 8 p.m. with the recitation of the holy rosary beginning at 7 p.m. at Providence Funeral Home, 807 Carlos Parker Blvd NW in Taylor.

A celebration of life Mass will be held Tuesday, Aug. 2, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 111 W Rio Grande St. in Taylor, with burial to follow at Our Lady of Guadalupe Cemetery.
