Coupland Civic Organization (CCO)
The CCO had hoped to resume its golf tournament, which had been cancelled due to COVID. Unfortunately, due to the heat and scheduling conflicts, the tournament will not be held this year. CCO directors hope that the tournament can resume next year.
Barbara Piper reports that Coupland will hold its annual National Night Out Tuesday, Aug. 2. She says, “This is a national recognition and one we observe each first Tuesday in August. The CCO will be providing its fun feast of hot dogs with all of the trimmings, chips, homemade cookies, and nice cool water.”
The event begins at 6:30 p.m. at the Depot in downtown Coupland.
Piper adds, “We always look forward to hearing from Matt Kreidel of the Williamson County Sheriff’s Department about all of the goings on in our area.”
The ribbon-cutting for the Muery/South Broad Road project renovation is Aug. 3, at 10 a.m. South Broad was widened, and there was complete renovation of these streets and drainage work. This project is part of the 2019 Williamson County Bond Project.

At Coupland School, summer office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with the office being closed on Fridays. For information about new student registration, please contact the office at 512- 856-2422 or email [email protected].
Meet the Teacher Night is Aug. 11, at 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Aug. 17, is the first day of school. Looking ahead, the annual Harvest Fest is Nov. 5.
St. Peter’s Church of Coupland
The St. Peter’s July Seniors Luncheon was a picnic lunch.
Co-Chair Lois Schmidt says, “We had over 40 seniors including hostesses and helpers attending.”
Hostesses and hosts were Cynthia and Teddy Wittliff, Sandra and Don Wernli, Becky Sutton, Janet Doss, Cindy Alexander, Joyce and Arthur Henze and Schmidt. Helpers were Wanda Walther and JoAnn Ging.
Schmidt adds, “We thank Pastor Charles (Starks) for our prayer and blessing, Charlotte Albert for the wonderful decorations, and everyone who helped.” Bingo and “42” Dominoes were played. The next Luncheon will be on Sept. 20, at 11:30 a.m.
At the services Sunday, July 24, special music was provided by Martha Poldrack and Prissy Rummel. The monthly potluck lunch was after the services. On Tuesday, July 26, Coffee Connections was at 9:30 a.m. in the conference room.
St. Peter’s assisted Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry July 30 with distributing food and helped in the Resale Shop.
On Sunday, July 31, is Noisy Offering Sunday.
Stark says, “In addition to the regular offering, if you would like, you may drop your spare change in the collection plate. Sherri Walker will be here to lead us in hymn sing. Be thinking about your favorite hymn.”

New Sweden Church
Barbara Carisalez reports, “The New Sweden Evangelism Committee entered a float in the Elgin Western Day parade. A lot of fun and fellowship was had decorating the float.”
Also New Sweden hosted their annual God and Country program.
Carisalez notes, “We are thankful to all those who participated and attended the celebration and stayed for ice cream afterwards.”
New Sweden continues to host the Ladies Bible Study the first Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. and then the second and fourth Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Hans Lillejord.
Carisalez says, “Game nights at New Sweden are the second, third, and fourth Thursday evenings at 7 p.m. We welcome all to join us.”
New Sweden is currently working on its annual School Supply Drive to fill backpacks for those in need at nearby school districts. The backpacks will be blessed during the Sunday morning church service on Aug. 7.
Carisalez adds, “We are looking forward to the startup of our Sunday School classes at 9:30 a.m. every Sunday starting in September.”

Emergency Services District #10
The Coupland Volunteer Fire Department has merged with the Thrall department into Emergency Services District #10 (ESD #10).
Maranda Cummings reports, “Board Meetings are being held in person at the Coupland Fire Station each second Tuesday of the month. The approved minutes, meeting notice/agenda, and audited financial report are posted on the ESD’s website at www. wcesd10.org.”
Mark Moellenberg is the Fire Chief of Williamson County ESD #10, Jared Cummings is the Assistant Fire Chief, John Roulston-Bates is District 1 Chief, and Zach Hall is District 2 Chief.
Cummings notes, “The board approved the purchase of vital rescue equipment from Metro Fire, which includes a set of battery powered Holmatro rescue tools (jaws of life) and two sets of Holmatro stabilization struts.”
The jaws of life will replace a non-working set, and the two sets of rescue struts will be an additional tool in the rescue equipment.
