Heritage Square Farmers Market

Granger Farmers Market

Fresh fruits, vegetables, jelly, canned and baked goods, eggs, artisan crafts and more will be at the Granger Main Street Farmers Market on the first and third Saturdays from April through October from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the corner of W. Davilla and Walton streets in Granger.

Third Thursday

Every third Thursday of the month, Taylor’s downtown businesses will be open past 5 until 8 p.m. and offer in-store specials, live music, door prizes and other activities. The event is designed to encourage residents to shop locally and become familiar with the shops in the downtown area.

Friends of Library

The Friends of the Taylor Public Library group meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month at noon in the library’s board room at 801 Vance St. in Taylor. For more information, call Maria Newman at 512-966-9445.

American Legion Post 39

American Legion Graham D Luhn Post 39 holds monthly meetings on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at its post building at 1310 Sycamore St. within Murphy Park in Taylor. SPJST Lodge 29 Taylor

Every Friday, SPJST Lodge 29 hosts live music and dancing and serves hamburgers at its hall at 5025 FM 619 in Taylor.. Bands play from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. Admission is free.

SPJST is a fraternal organization. Residents can purchase life insurance, annuities or other items in order to become a member of the SPJST. The hall is open for business Wednesdays through Sundays from 3 to 10 p.m.

Businesswomen group

The Taylor Area Businesswomen’s (TAB) luncheon meetings are held at noon on the fourth Tuesday of each month at Gatti’s Pizza, 2708 N. Main St. in Taylor. All current, former and interested businesswomen are invited to attend. Meals are $10. Tell Gattis at the door you are with TAB and pay the treasurer in the meeting room. Weight loss group

The Taylor Take Off Pounds Sensibly Chapter 1343 invites anyone interested in losing weight to join them Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. at Grace Place, 301 Grace Lane in Taylor. The group is a hands-on, pounds-off approach to weight loss. TOPS is not about diets or selling a food plan. People can choose the changes that work for them on their timetable. As the group says, “Small changes can equal big results.” Attendees should use the office entrance to Grace Place.

Senior Bingo

Enjoy Bingo with seniors every Wednesday at The Tripp Center, 1517 McLain St. near Mills Lane in Taylor, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. People are encouraged to bring one or two prizes.

Senior games & meeting

On the second Tuesday every month, seniors are encouraged to partake in games and/or a meeting at The Tripp Center, 1517 McLain St. near Mills Lane in Taylor. The meeting will be at 9:30 a.m., and Game Day will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

Senior Dominoes

On the fourth Tuesday every month, seniors are invited to play 42 and Straight Dominoes at Taylor Brethren Church’s Friends Fellowship, 710 Sloan St. in Taylor, from 2 to 4 p.m. Game awards are presented, and anniversaries and birthdays are presented. Pinball Tournament

On the first Sunday every month, the Bat City Pinball Club will host a tournament at The Hangout Pinball Lounge. The Hangout is located in Room 102 at Old Taylor High, 410 W. 7th St. in Taylor. Basketball in the Park

Tuesdays and Thursdays, June 7-July 28 — Basketball, dodgeball, arts and crafts, and food will be at Fannie Robinson Park, 260 S. Dolan St., 7-9 p.m. twice a week. Meet the Principals

Tuesday, Aug. 2 — Taylor ISD invites all students and their families to meet the principals prior to the start of the 2022-23 school year. All six principals will be available for a meet-and-greet from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Taylor ISD Event Center, 3101 North Main St in Taylor.

Square Dance

Thursday, Aug. 4 — The Taylor Promenaders First Anniversary Square Dance is set for 7 to 9:30 p.m. at the Tripp Center, 1517 McLain St. in Taylor. Event organizers say for everyone to please be their guest.

Taylor ISD registration

Thursday-Friday, Aug. 4-5 — Taylor ISD will host two in-person registration events at the Main Street Event Center, 3101 North Main St. in Taylor. Thursday’s event will be 4-8 p.m., and Friday’s will be 8:30 a.m.–1 p.m.

Back-to-School Summerfest

Saturday, Aug. 6 — The Blackshear/O.L. Price Ex-Students Association will host its 21st Annual Back-to-School Summerfest student giveaway and teacher supply drive at the Fannie Robinson Pavilion, 206. S. Dolan St. in Taylor. The teacher supply collection is from 10 a.m. to noon. The giveaway is from 11 a.m. to noon. Parents must register children, with registration between 10 and 11 a.m.

Potluck & game night

Saturday, Aug. 6 — The Davilla community, located northeast of Williamson County, will host the event at 6 p.m. For more information, call Inky Tatum at 254-721-2922.

Community Conversations

Tuesday, Aug. 9 — The Dickey Museum & Multipurpose Center will feature a discussion on health and wellbeing in the community at 6:30 p.m. at Fannie Robinson Park, 260 S. Dolan St. at the intersection with East Martin Luther King Boulevard in Taylor. Residents are invited to come and talk about needs and challenges for them and the community, as well as strengths and assets that still need improvement.
