Interns for Samsung Austin Semiconductor, a company expected to make a major impact in the community, made an impact of their own last week.
On Thursday, July 21, Taylor High School’s interns at Samsung volunteered at Shepherd’s Heart Food Pantry and Community Ministries in Taylor.
“As part of Samsung’s commitment to being a good corporate citizen, Kenny Calvo coordinated a volunteer opportunity for the Taylor high school interns with Shepherd’s Heart,” said Michele Glaze, Samsung community liason and director of corporate affairs. “Kenny is serving as an intern on the Communications & Community Affairs/Government Relations team and helped organize a volunteer day as one of his projects for the summer.”
The students helped in the food pantry as well as the nonprofit organization’s thrift store. The morning was spent preparing food for distribution, which included bagging meat, dairy, ready meals, produce and canned goods. Once the drive-thru distribution started in the afternoon, students helped keep the assembly line running and loaded goods into the vehicles.
