School safety and how to get teachers for the local school district will be the topic of discussion Tuesday.
On July 26, Taylor Independent School District will host a town hall meeting with Superintendent Devil Padavil. While this meeting will focus on school safety and how to hire and retain teachers, a previous town hall was on school safety, budgets, tax rates and finances.
“We’re planning on doing these once a month. This was a suggestion of (board trustee) Mr. (Jim) Buzan,” said Padavil at the June 20 school board meeting. “After we had our public hearing related to our Chapter 313 agreements, that level of conversation seemed appreciated. Even if three or four people show up, it’s worth it.”
Board member Anita Volek agreed that the town halls were a great idea and suggested different locations throughout the city for future sessions.
Tuesday’s meeting will be at 6 p.m. at the Taylor ISD Event Center, 3101 N. Main St. in Taylor.
