Nettilee R. Korenek

Nettilee R. Korenek, age 88 of Rockdale, passed away Wednesday morning, July 13, 2022, at the S.P.J.S.T. Assisted Living in Taylor. Nettilee was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Witting, to Edmund J. and Lena (Spies) Perrard.

Nettilee R. Korenek, age 88 of Rockdale, passed away Wednesday morning, July 13, 2022, at the S.P.J.S.T. Assisted Living in Taylor. Nettilee was born Jan. 25, 1934, in Witting, to Edmund J. and Lena (Spies) Perrard.

She attended school in Weimar. On Jan. 12, 1957, she and Ike G. Korenek were married in Weimar where their lifelong romance began. They came to Rockdale in 1957, where they began raising their family.

Nettilee was a homemaker. She was very active in the St. Joseph Catholic Church for 65 years, a member of St. Joseph Ladies Altar Society and a member of New Salem EEA Club. She enjoyed her family and friends, cooking, baking, sewing, gardening, helping people, dancing, camping and working at the church and Knights of Columbus Hall. She and Ike were hall managers of the KC Hall in Rockdale for many years.

She lived the past seven years in Taylor at the S.P.J.S.T Assisted Living Center. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

Nettilee was preceded in death by her husband, Ike, Sept. 13, 2012; children, Debra Ann Korenek in 1961, and Joseph Charles Korenek in 1967; her parents and her in laws, Frank and Annie (Janecka) Korenek; sisters, Earline Britton, Bernice Billeck, Charlene Fojt; brothers, Leroy Perrard, Melvin “Bob” Perrard, Bernard Perrard; sister-in-law, Virginia Perrard and brothers-in-law, Walter Ripper, Willie Korenek, Joe Korenek and Neil Britton; nephews Mark Ripper, David Ripper and Steve Kubenka.

Surviving are sons, Michael Korenek and wife Genella of Rockdale, and Alan Korenek and wife Vickie of Rockdale; daughter, Teresa Shaw and husband Mitch of Corpus Christi; eight grandchildren, Amanda Burris and husband Damon of Huntsville, Amy Caffey and husband Steven of Rockdale, Randy Korenek and wife Matilda of Jarrell, Jason Korenek and wife Jamie of Katy, Cade Shaw and wife Lacey of Huffman, Garrett Korenek and girlfriend Lani Denman of Franklin, Rylee Sordia and husband Tyler of Corpus Christi and Hannah Shaw and fiancée Carson Cave of Corpus Christi; 13 great-grandchildren, Lillie Burris, Eli Burris, Liam Korenek, Emily Korenek, Charlie Cave, Aubree Sordia, Brantley Denman, Jonah Cave, Hudson Caffey, Oliver Sordia, Brooklynn Korenek, Carter Korenek, Kacey Shaw and three more on the way; brother, Roy Lee Perrard; brothers-in-law Frank Korenek and wife Bea, Delmar Foyt and wife Mary Jane; sisters-in-law, Ann Perrard, Helen Perrard, Gracie Perrard, Annie Mae Ripper, Isyjean Korenek and many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

Serving as pallbearers were Damon Burris, Steven Caffey, Randy Korenek, Jason Korenek, Cade Shaw, Garrett Korenek, Tyler Sordia and Carson Cave.

Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A visitation was Sunday, July 17, from 4 to 6 p.m. with a rosary held at 6 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. A funeral Mass was held Monday, July 18, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Memorials may be sent to St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale or the Knights of Columbus Hall in Rockdale.
