On July 4, Taylorites not only celebrated freedom, but had an opportunity to meet possibly the next governor of Texas.

Beto O’Rourke, the Democratic candidate for governor, stopped in Taylor Monday as a part of his campaign trail.

O’Rourke and his son, Henry, had lunch with Mayor Brandt Rydell and his wife Julie, and Mayor Pro Tem Gerald Anderson and his daughter Ne’Koye. During their meal, Rydell and Anderson educated O’Rourke on Taylor’s rich history and the Taylor Duck spirit.

Before leaving to continue campaigning, O’Rourke stopped and talked to a group of supporters and took photos.
