A spring project near downtown Granger is complete.
Williamson County and Granger officials and residents celebrated Davilla Street improvements with a ribbon cutting June 22. The projects was reportedly finished within three months.
“This intersection is the heart of Granger. It’s also the beginning of the access to the Granger Co-Op, the last operating Co-Op on the east side of Williamson County that a lot of farmers depend on,” said Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles. “I’m so happy to be able to work with the city of Granger to preserve their heritage with the brick street, and I thank them for letting the county work with them.”
Project costs were $664,464 and funded with voter-approved 2019 road bond funds. The project included replacing a collapsed box culvert under Davilla Street and replacing some of the street’s brick pavers with colored stamped concrete near the intersection of Davilla and Walton streets. The brick pavers were salvaged and given to the city of Granger for future use. Level-up asphalt paving was added to Ash Street just north of Davilla Street to improve the crossing over the railroad tracks for haul trucks.
The project was designed by RS&H. The contractor was Chasco Constructors
