Milton A. “Bubba” Barnes, 90, passed away suddenly Jan.

Milton A. “Bubba” Barnes, 90, passed away suddenly Jan. 17, 2022, of heart disease.

Bubba was born and raised in Hutto and graduated from Hutto High School in 1949. After serving in the United States Army for four years, he began farming in the Hutto area for many years. After farming, he drove a gravel truck hauling dirt, gravel and sand into his 80s.

He loved the Hutto Hippos and followed his children during all their sporting events and after their graduations he still followed Hutto football until his death. He loved all kinds of sports and watched them all.

He will be remembered, as a loving father, father-in-law, grandfather and uncle. He loved all pets, country dancing and travelling in his RV. Golf was another love of his life and enjoyed playing with his many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Geneva Barnes; son, Terry Gene Barnes; parents, Milton “Bill Dick” Barnes and Bessie Gene; brother, Eugene “Gene” Barnes and wife Helen; and sister, Geraldine Boydston and husband Auby.

Bubba is survived by his daughter, Brenda Morrow and partner Jesse J. Hill; Janeane Petty and husband Mark; grandchildren, Matthew Terrance Henker-Barnes and wife Angela, Kelsey Jeane Cogdell and wife Austin, Loghan Petty, Corin Brunetti; and great granddaughter, Lucille Geneva Henker-Barnes. He is also survived by a brother, George Barnes and wife Janet. There are many nieces and nephews that he loved dearly who also survive him.

An outside memorial to celebrate Bubba and Geneva’s lives will be held Thursday, Jan. 27, at 2 p.m. at the home of daughter, Brenda Morrow, 2505 FM 973 in Taylor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association and/or the American Heart Association.
