Taylor track and field is about to hit another high level once again. Olympic silver medalist Fred Kerley and Taylor senior Jarvis Anderson, Deaflympic silver medalist will be participating at the same track at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, at the 2022 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships selection meet and the U20 Outdoor Championships.
For Kerley, the meet will serve as the qualifying event for the 2022 World Athletics Outdoor Championships, also in Eugene July 15-24, marking the first time that event is being contested on U.S. soil. If Anderson finishes in the top two, he will be selected to join the USA World Team to compete in Cali, Colombia, for the World U20 Championships.
“I am ready to shock the world,” said Anderson.
On Twitter, Kerley refers to Anderson as his little brother and is often seen encouraging him.
Anderson says one day he too will be like Fred Kerley.
“Going to Oregon will be the day when the Deaflympian from Taylor and the Olympian from Taylor put the world on notice that great things do come out of Taylor,” said Anderson’s father, Tommie Garner.
The trip to Oregon is not without cost and is rather expensive because Anderson does not have a sponsor. To help defray expenses, you may cash app $tlgarner65 or mail to 503 Mockingbird Lane, Taylor, TX 76574 or call 512-545-0583. Anderson will be leaving Thursday, June 23, for Oregon.
