The Taylor PRIDE event this month will be the subject of an interview this Wednesday.

On June 15, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee will feature a live interview with Denise Rodgers, Taylor PRIDE founder and president.

“We’re a week into Pride Month, and Taylor’s Pride Festival is just a few weeks away,” said DEI in a press release, “so come meet all the great folks who started the organization, launched the festival and have made our community a supportive home for the LGBTQ+ community.”

The location and other details of the event will be announced on the DEI Facebook page at https:// www.facebook.com/ TaylorDEICommittee.

Taylor PRIDE had its first in-person festival in the city June 26, 2021. Activities, booths, music and more were part of the festival. The event was the organization’s second celebration, with the first event in 2020 held virtually due to precautions for the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Taylor DEI Committee is a result of continuing conversations that took place in the city of Taylor in the aftermath of the nationwide protests and discussions about DEI in the summer of 2020. The purpose of the committee is to ensure equitable access and inclusion of opportunities, benefits and resources for Taylor residents. The committee’s charge is to create a dialogue regarding diversity, equity and inclusion; to actively participate in developing a vision for diversity, equity, and inclusion that represents the residents of Taylor; and to make recommendations to community leaders based on this vision.
