Just after lunch on Wednesday, June 8, Hutto ISD named Coach Will Compton as the replacement for Coach Brad LaPlante as the Hippos' next head football coach and boys athletic coordinator.
Coach Compton comes to Hutto from Hays CISD’s Johnson High School in Buda. While at Johnson, the Jags were able to produce 43 points per game in 2021.
Coach Compton has been the offensive coordinator for some of the top programs in the state. He was the offensive coordinator at John Tyler, La Marque and Refugio.
Compton has also served as recruiting coordinator and director of character development.
“Coach Compton is a dynamic, transformational coach. Whether it be as a head coach or offensive coordinator, he has positively changed every program he touched. He is a servant leader that will make an impact in our program immediately,” said athletic director Brad LaPlante. “We welcome Will and his family to Hippo Nation.”
Compton and his wife Ede have been married for 19 years. They have two sons, Tristan who will be a junior and Levi who will be in the 8th grade.
