Local residents are advised to stay hydrated and cool as area temperatures reach triple digits with heat indices as high as 104.

The Taylor Texas Weather Network projects several days with highs over 100 degrees from this week into the next. Dry conditions will likely persist.

“Well above normal, possibly record high temperatures continue through at least the weekend. “Highs in the upper 90s up to 107 (in southwest central Texas) and lows in the 70s to near 80 are expected. Afternoon heat index values will be slightly elevated,” said the National Weather Service Austin/San Antonio Office. “No rain is expected. Continue to take heat precautions.”

Skies will bounce back between clear and partly cloudy heading into next week, but the sun will have ample opportunity to keep temperatures up.

On Wednesday and Thursday, June 8-9, the Taylor Texas Weather Network forecasts temperatures will stay in double digits with highs of 99 degrees. Winds will be from the south and travel 10-15 mph with gusts as high as 25 mph.

Wednesday’s heat index values might reach 104 and stay around 101 into the evening.

From Friday through next Monday, June 10-13, Taylor’s actual high each day is 101 degrees. Winds are expected to stay the same through at least Saturday.
