A motorcyclist died in a crash last Thursday in Taylor’s first fatal collision this year.

On June 2, at 10:43 p.m., the Taylor Police Department received the call about the deadly crash in the 12400 block of U.S. 79. A pickup truck also became involved in the incident.

Based on preliminary analysis, police say that a black 2008 Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Joshua Wayne Lashley, 43, of Thrall, was travelling west on U.S. 79 when it lost control. Lashley reportedly was then thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the intersection of U.S. 79 and County Road 101. Police say the Thrall resident was then struck by a 2013 Ford pickup truck driven by Thomas Melton, 48, of Taylor.

Lashley was pronounced deceased on the scene. The police department continues to investigate the crash.
