GRANGER – Granger lresident Kevin Carr was recently awarded his Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Providence in Kyle.

The Fourth Degree is the highest and most prestigious honor within the Knights of Columbus. It is a group of outstanding Sir Knights who are dedicated to the service of their Church, their country and the Knights of Columbus Order.

One of the most important functions of the Fourth Degree is providing Guards of Honor at Mass, wakes, funerals, dedications and many other civic or patriotic functions. In full Regalia (special dress uniform) with colorful capes and plumed chapeaux, the Knights of Columbus are always recognized in any public appearance.

Carr is a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Corn Hill and has been an active member in the Knights of Columbus for the past 20 years.

Carr is the son of Betty Carpenter of Granger, and the late Joel Carr of Denison.

For those of you that don’t personally know Carr, he was born with disabilities, but don’t think for one moment that has ever stopped or slowed him down. He tries harder than any individual that I know. Things that are seemingly impossible to accomplish are achieved by him.
