Two of the main roads that connect two halves of Hutto had issues last week.
On Thursday and Friday, May 26-27, railroad crossing arms malfunctioned at the crossings of Jim Cage Lane and Chris Kelley Boulevard next to U.S. 79. Signal crews were dispatched to repair the failed mechanisms as traffic heavied.
Union Pacific Railroad conducted maintenance on the railroad tracks Saturday, May 28. The work itself also tends to cause railroad crossing arms to malfunction. The Hutto Police Department kept an eye on potential problems that arose from the work.
“We will do our best to keep the flow of traffic moving when and if the arms get stuck in the down position,” said HPD Saturday.
