Student removed at TMS

Per protocol, a student was removed from a Taylor Independent School District campus for a threatening comment.

On Wednesday, May 25, Taylor Middle School Principal Chelsey Michalik-Ellison sent a letter to families informing them of the incident.

“The safety and security of our students is our top priority and we take every false threat seriously. Today in one of our classes, a student made a threatening comment to the rest of the class.” Michalik-Ellison told the community. “We quickly removed the student from class and student will not be present for the rest of the school year. We will always work to keep you informed and will take every matter seriously.”

Michalik-Ellison advised families to speak with their children about the serious consequences of false threats that take place in person or on social media.

Superintendent Devin Padavil affirmed Wednesday’s action at TMS went as procedure for the situation.

“The student issue is being highlighted in the media as an extreme issue when it is our standard response to these types of concerns,” said Padavil. “Any statement made as a threat to other students is treated in a manner where removal from school is a normal response.”
