Third Thursday
Every third Thursday of each month, Taylor’s downtown businesses will be open past 5 until 8 p.m. and offer in-store specials, live music, door prizes and other activities. The event is designed to encourage residents to shop locally and become familiar with the shops in the downtown area.
COVID-19 & Flu Vaccines
The Williamson County and Cities Health District will have a walk-in clinic for COVID-19 and flu vaccinations every Tuesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Taylor building is located at 115 W. 6th St., one block from Main Street north of downtown Taylor. Chili Supper
Thursday, Jan. 27 — The Taylor Lions Club will host its annual chili. The event will be held at the Taylor SPJST Hall, located at 5025 FM 619. Serving will begin at 5 p.m. and continue to 7 p.m. The event will be drive-thru only. Tickets are available for a $10 donation. A limited number of additional tickets will be available at the door. Race and Ethnicity Symposium
Thursday, Jan. 20 — “Without Borders or Boundaries: A Panel on how U.S. Immigration Enforcement Racializes, Criminalizes and Punishes Migrants” will feature Dr. Luis Romero (Assistant Professor, Comparative Race and Ethnic Studies at Texas Christian University) and Esther Ramos (Graduate Student at Teresa Long Lozano Institute of Latin American Studies, University of Texas at Austin) from 4 to 6 p.m. The event is sponsored by the Race and Ethnicity Studies Program. The event will be at the McCombs Campus Center at Southwestern University at Georgetown.
Ryan Paul Davis at The Loose Screw
Friday, Jan. 21 — Originally from New Orleans, Louisiana, singer/ songwriter Ryan Paul Davis blends traditional blues and folk music with poetic lyricism and imagery. Often pressing the boundaries of roots and blues genres, his songwriting is characteristically reflective, raw and emotive. He has shared the stage with the likes of Gary Clark Jr., Bob Schneider, Ian Moore, Hubert Sumlin, and W.C. Clark among others. Davis has been featured in numerous southern festivals such as Austin’s SXSW Music Festival, the Texas Blueberry Festival, and The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival.
The event begins at The Loose Screw Craft Beer House & Garden, 410 W 7th Street at Old Taylor High, in Taylor at 7 p.m.
50s Night
Friday, Jan. 21 — Come Bop and Roll the night away at Black Sparrow Music Parlor. 50s Night featuring the cool music of the 1950s. Dress up in 50s clothes and hair styles of the day and get a chance to win tickets to Rosie Flores the very next night. Dance, swing, bop and hop to the 50s music all night long. The event begins at Black Sparrow Music Parlor, 113. W. Second St. in Taylor, at 8 p.m.
Documentary screening
Saturday, Jan. 22 — “Rondo and Bob” was a documentary with recreations shot in Taylor with the hope to screen there at the historic Howard Theatre.
The film screens there at 7 p.m. Folks from Taylor and the cast and crew will be there. No admission fee, but attendees are asked to bring donations for the food pantry at Shepherd’s Heart in Taylor.
Chili Invitational
Saturday, Feb. 19 — The 1st Annual Taylor Downtown Chili Invitational will be at Greenhouse Craft Food, 113 W. Second St. in Taylor, from 2 to 8 p.m. There will be live music all day.
