Thrall students compete at state

After capturing the University Interscholastic League academic district championship in March, four students advanced out of regionals to represent Thrall High School at the UIL state meet at the University of Texas at Austin on May 6 and May 24.

After capturing the University Interscholastic League academic district championship in March, four students advanced out of regionals to represent Thrall High School at the UIL state meet at the University of Texas at Austin on May 6 and May 24.

Sophomore Claire Wernli placed fifth at state in ready writing with her essay, “The Creative and Feminine Mind.” Freshmen journalism contestants Aiden Epperson and Dakotal Johnson finished in the top 12 at state.

Sophomore Ethan Dahl will represent Thrall at the Lincoln-Douglas (LD) debate state competition Tuesday, May 24, in Austin. This year’s LD topic is “In matters of foreign policy, the United States ought to value universal human rights over economic interests.”
