On May 7, Coupland ISD’s bond election, which needs a majority vote across two counties, ended in a 68-68 tie in unofficial results.
In Williamson County, 67 votes were in favor of the bond with 65 votes against. In Travis County, there were three against and one in favor.
Coupland ISD’s board of trustees called for a $91.6 million bond election to build a secondary campus. In addition to growth perceptions shared with neighboring districts, Coupland hoped to relieve overcrowding in the middle school and expand academic and extracurricular activities.
The board is scheduled to canvass the election Wednesday, May 18, at 8:30 a.m. at the Coupland School library.
