O’Dell hurls second playoff no hitter

Taylor Lady Ducks ace pitcher Lindsay O’Dell has struck out 29 batters she has faced in her two playoff appearances.

Taylor Lady Duck Lindsay O’Dell has surrendered zero hits in her two playoff pitching appearances this season. The Lady Ducks area round win came against China Spring at Midway by a final score of 3-0.

The Lady Ducks got on the board in the bottom of the second inning. Camryn Nunamaker had the Lady Ducks biggest hit of the night with a triple. With two outs, Emma Whitsel singled Camryn Nunamaker home for a 1-0 Lady Ducks lead. Whitsel came all the way home when Kennan Nunameker reached base on an infield single to second base for a 2-0 Taylor lead.

The final run of the game came in the third inning. O’Dell reached base on a five-pitch walk. A’ja Lucas also drew a base on balls. Molli Kennick came in to run for O’Dell. Alyssa Ortiz grounded into a fielder’s choice that put Kennick out. Camryn Nunamaker then singled home Lucasfor the Lady Ducks’ third run.

Camryn Nunamaker finished 2-for-3 and had one RBI and scored once for Taylor.

The Lady Ducks advance to the regional quarterfinals to take on Jasper this Friday, May 13, at 7:30 p.m. at Navasota High School.
